Guided bone regeneration is a predictable method of augmenting horizontally deficient ridges with the use of barrier membranes and composite bone grafts. Periosteal pouch procedure has been used as a guided bone regeneration technique with periosteum used as a pouched barrier membrane to hold the bone graft in close proximity to the decorticated buccal cortical bone. Two cases have been treated successfully using this technique. The first case involves use periosteal pouch to augment deficient horizontal bone with delayed implant placement and in the second case with immediate implant placement.
