Many polycrystalline substances have qualities that are determined by the individual properties of individual crystals as well as parameters that define the polymorphic state. Because favoured grain rotations are a typical occurrence, crystalline texture can play a crucial role in a variety of mechanical and physical characteristics. The ideal orientation is divided into two categories in the literature: "deflection texture" and "crystallisation (or annealing) mouthfeel." Casting, treatment, compression, welding, and preheating all have the potential to change the texture.
