Die Anwendung statistischer und mathematischer Theorien auf die Wirtschaftswissenschaften zum Zweck der Überprüfung von Hypothesen und der Vorhersage zukünftiger Trends. Die Ökonometrie nimmt Wirtschaftsmodelle und testet sie durch statistische Versuche.
